Honda Insight Concept

September 5, 2008 by

Honda will unveil for the first time its new small hybrid vehicle known as the Insight at the 2008 Paris International Auto Show on 2 October 2008 which shares styling cues with the Honda FCX Clarity.

The Honda Insight is a 5-door, 5-passenger hatchback hybrid vehicle that will go on sale in the US next spring and will be priced significantly below other hybrids available today. It was reported from other sites that the Honda Insight will be priced at $18,000.

Honda could achieve a significant cost reduction in Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) components which make the Insight the most affordable hybrid to date.

The compact control unit and the nickel metal hybrid battery of the vehicle are mounted beneath the cargo space to give the Honda Insight a low centere of gravity.

The Honda Insight will be built at the Suzuka factory in Japan and Honda expected to sell 200,000 units of the Honda Insight per year.
