Mastretta MXT

Mastretta, a car maker and design company that was founded by brothers Daniel and Carlos Mastretta from Mexico, has unveiled the Mastretta MXT at the 2008 London Motor Show.

The Mastretta MXT is the first car ever to be designed and built in Mexico is a lightweight rear-wheel drive two-seater sports car powered by a Cosworth 2-liter turbocharged Duratec engine producing 240 bhp.

The MXT is weight at only 900 kg and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds with the top speed of 150 mph.

The Mastretta MXT is expected to compete against the other lightweight sports cars such as the Lotus Elis and the Exige. The car is based on a bonded aluminum semi-monocoque chassis inspired by aircraft style technology with fibreglass body with leather trimmed interior.

Other features include front and rear double wishbone suspension and 293 mm ventilated discs with ABS. Mastretta aims to sell the MXT between 50 and 80 cars per year starting with the right hand drive models for the UK market in the first year and will be increase subsequently to 200 units per year.

The Mastretta MXT will be distributed by Lifestyle Automotive in the UK and the rest of Europe with the price tag of £32,999.
