Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X Race Car

Mitsubishi Motors UK has announced that it is developing a race-going version of the Lancer Evolution X in association with Southampton-based vehicle importation and compliance specialists SVA UK. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X race car will be competed at the Britcar Championship and will be driven by SVA’s managing director and former BTCC regular James Kaye and two other drivers who are yet to be named.

The racing version of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X race car is being constructed by ADR Motorsport, the same firm that already built and run the two-works Mitsubishi currently competing in the British Rally Championship. The race car will make its first public appearance and compete for the first time scheduled for the weekend of September 20th and 21st at the Britcar 24-hour race at Silverstone and will appear in the official red and chrome Ralliart livery.

Peugeot 908 HDi FAP Hybrid

Peugeot Sport has presented its new race car, the 908 HDi FAP, at the final round of the 2008 Le Mans Series at Silverstone, this weekend. The 908 HDi FAP is equipped with a hybrid power plant featuring a kinetic energy recovery system.

The 908 HDi FAP’s “HY” technology allows a proportion of the kinetic energy produced under braking to be either recovered or stored. With this, the 908 HY efficiency could be improved where with the combination of the stored mechanical energy and the energy produced by the internal combustion engine, the performance could be enhanced with no increase in the amount of energy consumed. Apart from that, the stored mechanical energy could reduce the fuel consumption but still getting the same level of performance.
